Bollywood is back with an edge-of-the-seat action film after a long time as Ajay Devgn, starring as the macho police officer, is back with Singham Again. A huge star cast will join the 55-year-old actor, as two new cops are added to the Rohit Shetty Cop Universe. The history-creating trailer of the film was launched on the 7th of October. Read further as we deeply dive into the trailer and discuss the two new cops.
Did the Singham Again trailer give too much?
Often fans are left unsatisfied with the trailer giving too little information about the film. That wasn’t the case with the latest instalment of the Singham series. The trailer has a duration of four minutes and 58 seconds which makes it the longest trailer in Hindi cinema history.
The story draws parallels to the mythological epic Ramayana. The trailer shows Bajirao Singham’s wife played by Kareena Kapoor Khan being kidnapped by Arjun Kapoor. Arjun as the villain looks pretty cruel and will be coming against a team of five cops.
Deepika Padukone joins Ranveer Singh
The new parents in Bollywood, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh will pair up once again this time as police officers. While Singh as Sangram Bhalerao in Simmba was already a part of the cop universe, Deepika is the first female cop to join this star cast. The 38-year-old actress will be seen as ACP Shakti Shetty who also calls herself as the ‘Lady Singham’.
Along with Padukone, the fifth film in the series will also see the addition of Tiger Shroff as ACP Satya Pattnaik. Shroff’s character is being built as someone who looks up to Bajirao Singham. Shroff will be working with Akshay Kumar once again after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Singham Again and the Ramayana connection
The Rohit Shetty directorial will see many characters re-imagined from Ramayana. Devgn and Kareena are the Lord Ram and Sita of the film. Ranveer becomes Lord Hanuman while Tiger will be Laxman to Ajay’s Ram. Making a great entry from the helicopter again, Akshay Kumar is seen as Jattaiyu in the movie. Arjun will be seen as the antagonist, Ravana.
Mixing religion and mythology with Bollywood could be a double-edged sword for Singham Again. While the story looks solid and filled with never-seen-before action sequences it feels like the film could lack a bit of suspense given the trailer reveals the plot of the film.
The film also Jackie Shroff who will be seen once again as Omar Hafeez, a role he had portrayed in Sooryavanshi. The action film also stars veteran actors like Ravi Kishan and Ashutosh Rana.
This Diwali, you are in for a treat as fireworks in the film are second to none. So mark your calendars as Singham Again gears up to hit theatres near you on the 1st of November three years after the huge success of Sooryavanshi.
